Nepal Geological Society (NGS) conducted a Talk Program (NGS_TP: S03) scheduled on Thursday, 11 December 2025, featuring a distinguished international expert in InSAR science by Dr. Daisy Huang, University of Edinburgh, UK on “Expanding InSAR Capabilities: Subsidence Monitoring and a New Topographic-Phase Approach to Millimetre-Scale Himalayan River Aggradation Rates.”
This session explored cutting-edge applications of InSAR for monitoring ground subsidence, particularly in the Kathmandu Valley, using Sentinel-1 displacement data and topographic-phase innovations. Dr. Huang also introduced new methodologies for understanding sedimentation and aggradation processes in Himalayan river systems.
