The Nepal Geological Society convened the 11th Nepal Geological Congress under the distinguished theme of “Geosciences for Climate Change Adaptation, Natural Resources and Geohazard Management” on the 10th and 11th of March, 2025, at the Everest Hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Rt. Honorable President of Nepal, Ram Chandra Poudel, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, officially inaugurating the congress before an assembly that included Her Excellency Dr. Danielle Meuwly, Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, as well as national and international delegations and various professionals, researchers, and students in the field of geosciences.
Professor Mike Searle and Jagadishwar Nath Shrestha were conferred the Honorary Membership of the Nepal Geological Society, and Professor Bishal Nath Upreti received the inaugural Toni Hagen Memorial Award in recognition of their exemplary contributions to the advancement of geoscience research in the Himalayan region.
Approximately 300 geoscience professionals, researchers, and students participated with great enthusiasm, representing Nepal, India, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Korea, Bhutan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. During this two-day international geoscientific event, 70 research papers and 15 posters were presented, highlighting the dynamic discourse in the discipline.
