NGS Symposium on Landslide Safety
The Nepal Geological Society (NGS) is pleased to announce the organization of a Symposium on Landslide Safety under the theme “Landslide Hazard and Bio-engineering Approaches for Slope Stability in Nepal.”
The symposium will be held on Friday, 6 February 2026 (2082-10-23 BS) at the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation (DWRI), Jawalakhel, Lalitpur.

This symposium aims to bring together policymakers, engineers, geologists, researchers, academicians, professionals, and students to promote discussion and knowledge exchange on landslide hazards, scientific understanding, engineering and bio-engineering mitigation measures, and institutional coordination for building safer and more resilient landscapes in Nepal.

The program will feature technical presentations on landslide processes and mechanisms, commonly adopted mitigation practices in Nepal, and the application of nature-based and bio-engineering approaches for slope stability. A panel discussion titled “Building Safer Landscapes: Science, Nature, and Practice” will follow, involving representatives from relevant government agencies, academic institutions, and professional organizations.

The Nepal Geological Society cordially invites professionals, academicians, researchers, students, and stakeholders working in the field of geoscience, engineering, disaster risk reduction, and related disciplines to participate in this symposium.
Further details, including the program schedule, will be shared through the NGS website and official communication channels.
