Name of the Scholarship: NGS Mitra Rai Memorial Scholarship
The late Mitra Rai’s friends and well-wishers donated money to start this scholarship. The Nepal Geological Society also contributed money to the fund.
Amount of Scholarship: The Late Rai’s friends and well-wishers contributed a total of NRs. 1,20,000.00, and the Nepal Geological Society added NRs. 1,30,000.00 to the total contribution. Now the total amount is NRs. 2,50,000.00 (two lakh fifty thousand only). The total amount is deposited in a fixed deposit at Rastriya Banijya Bank, Bhotahity branch, in the name of the Nepal Geological Society as a fixed deposit. The interest on that amount will be provided as a scholarship to two students.
Criteria for the scholarship: The top two students (one boy and one girl) from the merit list of the M.Sc. 1st year in Geology final examination (I and II semesters in the present context) without any back papers will receive the scholarship.
Selection Criteria: The scholarship subcommittee of NGS gets information from the Central Department of Geology, Tribhuvan University, about the qualified candidates among the students enrolled in the second year of the M.Sc. in Geology (III semester in the present context). The committee will choose the top-scoring male and female candidates on the basis of the merit list of the M.Sc. I year examination (I and II semesters in the present context) results at Tribhuvan University.
Scholarship Distribution: The scholarship will be given to the recipients at the Nepal Geological Society’s annual general meeting, which takes place in the month of Bhadra.
