    NGS delegate meet political leaders and share professional issues

    Today, NGS delegate met Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, former prime minister and senior vice-president of United Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and discussed in various issues related to Geoscience profession, its present status in involvement in national development and disaster risk reduction, areas where geoscientists can significantly contribute etc.


    The delegate discussed on the need and utilization of research output for sustainable development in view of recent landslide and earthquake disaster. How geoscientists can contribute in reconstruction process was shared. Likewise, the rooms to make improvements to ensure the adequate input of geoscientist and need of Geological Coucil were the subject matter of discussion.


    We have received a commitment from Dr. Bhattarai to support to sort out these issues from political level. We are thankful to him for his time and good understanding on the importance of geosciece for national development.


    In  the coming days, we will be making such meetings with the top leaders of other political parties to make common consensus on this important issue which have shadowed this important discipline in the country.
